DraftKings Starts of the Night – 1/10/17

With 9 NBA games on deck tonight, there’s plenty of options to fill out your DraftKings lineups. A gift, and a curse. Added options, added difficulty when choosing who to run with. So, here’s some of the best values at each position to help with those tough lineup decisions…

Guard

*Tier 1: $8,000+, Tier 2: $8,000 – $6,000, Tier 3: $6,000 – $4,000, Tier 4: Under $4,000

Tier 1: C.J. McCollum – POR @ LAL ($8,100)

McCollum carried the Blazers while Damian Lillard was out, and while Dame has returned to the lineup, it really hasn’t affected C.J.’s production. He’s now gone for at least 20 points in 7 straight games, and at least 35 points in 4 of their last 5. What’s more impressive – especially from the DraftKings standpoint – is the fact that he has at least 5 assists in 6 of the Blazers last 10 games, and is averaging 4 rebounds over that same stretch. Your boy has been filling up the stat sheet, and a matchup with the Lakers (who he just hit up for 27/4/7 last week) is fantasy gold.

Tier 2: Bradley Beal – WAS vs. CHI ($6,400)

Beal has scored at least 20 points in each of the Wizards last 4 games, and the crazy part is, he’s attempted an average of 9.5 3s per game during that stretch. Chicago ranks in the middle of the pack in opponent’s 3-point %, but will be without their best defender Jimmy Butler, as well as Dwyane Wade, leaving the defensive duties to Isaiah Canaan tonight. No disrespect to Canaan, but the only thing I see slowing Beal down tonight is his ankle.

Tier 3: Malcolm Brogdon – MIL @ SA ($5,400)

The Greek Freak may miss his 2nd straight game due to illness, opening the door for Brogdon to make his 2nd straight start. Brogdon took full advantage of the start Sunday, putting up 22 points, 5 assists, 1 rebound, and 3 steals, but the thing is, he’s been balling regardless. Coach Kidd has also taking notice, and he’s seen an increase in minutes as a result of his play; even with Antetokounmpo in the lineup. Brogdon is a Swiss Army knife type guy, and his versatility equates to a very high floor, and even higher ceiling.

Tier 4: Marco Belinelli – CHA @ HOU ($3,800)

Nicolas Batum is listed as Doubtful for tonight’s game, and Jeremy Lamb has been wildly inconsistent. The same can be said for Belinelli, who has struggled since returning from a sprained ankle, but a matchup with Houston is the perfect remedy. Marco should see around 30 minutes tonight, and will definitely be an offensive factor in what should be a high-scoring affair.

Forward

*Tier 1: $8,000+, Tier 2: $8,000 – $6,000, Tier 3: $6,000 – $4,000, Tier 4: Under $4,000

Tier 1: Kevin Durant – GSW vs. MIA ($9,800)

Klay Thompson has been ruled out of tonight’s game, as has Justice Winslow for Miami. Translation: more opportunities to produce for KD, and Rodney McGruder attempting to guard him (good luck with that). KD has been doing it all this season – 2nd in scoring, rebounding, and blocks, and 3rd in assists among qualified small forwards – and he’s well worth the hefty price tag.

Tier 2: Jabari Parker – MIL @ SA ($7,300)

I hate to say this, since he attended that school in Durham, but Jabari Parker is nice af. After tearing his ACL, and missing his rookie campaign, he finally looks to have figured it out, is explosive as ever, and is having an all-starish season. David Lee is about 59 years old, and will start tonight for the sick LaMarcus Aldridge, which is a ridiculously good look for Mr. Parker.

Tier 3: Tim Hardaway Jr – ATL @ BKN ($4,600)

When the Hawks traded away Kyle Korver, I heard a lot of selling/rebuilding talk, but the first thing that came to my mind was “they must really like Hardaway”. Now, it’s unlikely he’ll crack the starting lineup (barring injury), but he’s been extremely effective off the bench, and is averaging a little over 27 minutes since the ball dropped. His minutes should continue to increase, and the Hawks are taking on a Nets team who is allowing the most points per game this season (114/game), making Hardaway a nice value play tonight.

Tier 4: Andre Igoudala – GS vs. MIA ($3,600)

He should see an increase in minutes with Klay Thompson resting tonight, and while his scoring numbers are down, he makes up for it with his passing ability, and on the boards.

Center

*Tier 1: $7,500+, Tier 2: $7,500 – $6,000, Tier 3: Under $6,000

Tier 1: Dwight Howard – ATL @ BKN ($7,500)

Over his last 10 games, Howard has one game in which he didn’t grab more than 10 boards, and pulled down at least 15 in 6 of those 10… Brooklyn hasn’t been good on the boards. At all. I won’t be surprised if Howard flirts with a 20-20 game tonight.

Tier 2: Rudy Gobert – UTH vs. CLE ($6,800)

Quietly, Gobert is having a monster season, and while Tristan Thompson is solid on the boards, he’s undersized and draws a tough matchup here. Gobert is averaging a double-double on the season, and I like him to add to his total of 26 on the season tonight (good for 4th most).

Tier 3: Jonas Valanciunas – TOR vs. BOS ($5,200)

Al Horford is not good defensively + the Celtics shoot the 4th most 3s + JV is sneaky polished on the offensive end + JV is solid on the boards = get Valanciunas in your lineup.
