DraftKings Ballers and Bums – Week 12

Recapping the Week 12 DraftKings Starts of the Week (Turkey Day Edition). A few good calls (ballers), a few bad calls (bums)…

Quarterback
Ballers

Ben Roethlisberger (Tier 1 – $7,300): 14/20, 246 yds, 3 TDs – 20.84 DK FPTS

Unfortunately, Scott Tolzien and the Colts offense couldn’t generate points, but Big Ben made the most of his 20 pass attempts.

Dak Prescott (Tier 2 – $6,300): 17/24, 195 yds, 1 TD (8 rush, 39 yds, 1 TD) – 21.7 DK FPTS

The Redskins dominated time of possession, limiting the Cowboys offense in general. However, thanks to THE Ezekiel Elliott, Dak didn’t have to do much for the Boys to get the W. He picked up nearly 10 points with his legs, saving what would’ve been a disappointing fantasy day.

Kirk Cousins (Tier 3 – $5,900): 41/53, 449 yds, 3 TDs (1 rush, 2 yds) – 33.16 DK FPTS

Cousins. So hot right now… Cousins.

Tom Brady (Tier 1 – $7,800): 30/50, 286 yds, 2 TDs – 19.04 DK FPTS

Yes, Brady failed to reach 20 points, and at $7,800, that could easily be considered bum-ish. But, he finished as a Top-15 QB for the week, so you can’t really be mad at the guy.

Carson Palmer (Tier 3 – $5,300): 24/45, 289 yds, 2 TDs, 1 INT – 18.56 DK FPTS

In reality, Palmer’s performance was extremely inefficient. Fantasy-wise, he was a steal at $5,300. Only two QBs – Kaepernick, and Barkley – put up better numbers from the bottom tier.

Bums

Russell Wilson (Tier 2 – $6,700): 17/33, 224 yds, 1 INT – 12.04 DK FPTS

Have to give credit to the Bucs defense. After 2 straight embarrassing performances, they’ve allowed only 3 TDs over the past 3 weeks, and gave Wilson hell all day – sacking him 6 times, and causing his lowest Passer Rating since Week 7 of 2012; his rookie year (38.8).

Running Back
Ballers

Le’Veon Bell (Tier 1 – $9,000): 23 rush, 120 yds, 1 TD (4 rec, 22 yds) – 27.2 DK FPTS

Bell had a huge day, which could’ve been monstrous, but Big Ben felt like giving thanks to Antonio Brown.

David Johnson (Tier 1 – $8,900): 13 rush, 58 yds (8 rec, 103 yds, 1 TD) – 33.1 DK FPTS

The streak rolls on! As expected, Johnson goes for over 100 all-purpose yards yet again, and it’s beginning to get old… By the way, only 10 receivers had more receiving yards in Week 12.

Jonathan Stewart (Tier 3 – $5,000): 17 rush, 96 yds, 2 TDs – 21.6 DK FPTS

Welcome back, good sir. Welcome back.

Bums

Frank Gore (Tier 2 – $5,200): 15 rush, 28 yds (1 rec, 3 yds) – 4.1 DK FPTS

I really didn’t like any RB outside of Zeke and Le’Veon on Thursday, but I had to pick someone in this tier. So, I’ll take the L. What are you gonna do?

Robert Kelley (Tier 3 – $4,300): 14 rush, 37 yds (2 rec, 5 yds) – 6.2 DK FPTS

I really didn’t like any RB outside of Zeke and Le’Veon on Thursday, but I had to pick someone in this tier. So, I’ll take the L. What are you gonna do?

Rashad Jennings (Tier 2 – $5,600): 15 rush, 55 yds (2 rec, 4 yds) – 7.9 DK FPTS

Just when I think the Giants ground attack has turned the corner, smh. They did put up over 100 total rushing yards, but a disappointing day from Mr. Jennings. Especially when you factor in the matchup.

Wide Receiver
Ballers

Antonio Brown (Tier 1 – $9,200): 5 rec, 91 yds, 3 TDs – 32.1 DK FPTS

He makes it look entirely too easy.

Jamison Crowder (Tier 2 – $5,800): 8 rec, 88 yds – 16.8 DK FPTS

Call me greedy, but it would’ve been nice to see one of Cousins’ 3 TD passes end up in Crowder’s mitts.

Adam Thielen (Tier 3 – $4,000): 8 rec, 53 yds – 13.3 DK FPTS

No, not an overly impressive performance from Thielen on paper, but when you factor in his $4,000 salary it is. Only Anquan Boldin put up more points from this bottom tier of WRs.

DeVante Parker (Tier 3 – $4,700): 3 rec, 64 yds – 9.4 DK FPTS

I’m taking credit for Parker as a baller. He had a salary of $4,700, left the game early with a back injury, and his replacement – Leonte Carroo – caught a TD. Soooooo, yeah, given his salary/injury/would be production he balled.

Bums

Larry Fitzgerald (Tier 1 – $7,000): 4 rec, 53 yds – 9.3 DK FPTS

Could’ve saved $2,300 and got more from DeVante Parker – who didn’t even play the entire game.

Doug Baldwin (Tier 2 – $6,400): 7 rec, 34 yds – 10.4 DK FPTS

See Russell Wilson.

Tight End
Ballers

Jordan Reed (Tier 1 – $6,200): 10 rec, 95 yds, 2 TDs – 31.5 DK FPTS

… And he played the 2nd half with a separated shoulder *golf clap*

C.J. Fiedorowicz (Tier 3 – $3,300): 4 rec, 42 yds – 8.2 DK FPTS

Several guys outperformed him from the bottom tier, but at $3,300, I’ll take 8 points from this TD dependent position.

Bums

Eric Ebron (Tier 2 – $4,000): 0 rec, 0 yds – 0 DK FPTS

Ebron was only targeted once on Thursday… And Stafford threw 40 passes. I’m still checking the injury report.

Jack Doyle (Tier 3 – $2,800): 2 rec, 25 yds – 4.5 DK FPTS

If we combine Doyle, and Dwayne Allen into 1 guy – let’s call him Jayne Allyle – he had a good day. You’d think I’d have learned by now to stay away from the Colts TEs. It’s a coin toss every week.

Greg Olsen (Tier 1 – $5,800): 4 rec, 45 yds – 8.5 DK FPTS

As I mentioned with Fiedorowicz, you’ll never hear me complain about 8 points from my TE. Unless, my TE happens to have the highest salary of the week.

Martellus Bennett (Tier 2 – $4,500): 3 rec, 22 yds (1 rush, 4 yds) – 5.6 DK FPTS

Sometimes your gut is right, other times… Not so much.

Defense/Special Teams
Ballers

Pittsburgh Steelers (Tier 3 – $2,800): 10 pts allowed, 2 INTs, 3 Sacks – 11 DK FPTS

Exactly why I mentioned Scott Tolzien about 20 times.

Baltimore Ravens (Tier 2 – $3,100): 14 pts allowed, 2 FR, 3 Sacks – 8 DK FPTS

The Bengals offense was better than expected, but not good enough.

New Orleans Saints (Tier 3 – $2,800): 21 pts allowed, 1 INT, 1 FR, 3 Sacks – 7 DK FPTS

Can’t lie, at halftime, I had this one chalked up as a terrible call. Goff looked like the 2nd coming of Dan Marino, and the Saints D looked like the Saints D… Then, they played the 2nd half.

Bums

Minnesota Vikings (Tier 2 – $3,400): 16 pts allowed, 2 Sacks – 3 DK FPTS

They played well in real life, but that doesn’t help much if you played them.

Denver Broncos (Tier 1 – $3,700): 30 pts allowed, 6 Sacks – 5 DK FPTS

Thankfully, they put up 6 sacks… Too bad big hits don’t count towards their score.

Totals

QB: 5 ballers, 1 bum

RB: 3 ballers, 3 bums

WR: 4 ballers, 2 bums

TE: 2 ballers, 4 bums

DST: 3 ballers, 2 bums
