10/30/16: Washington Wizards @ Memphis Grizzlies – Game Analysis, and Betting Prediction
After an opening night loss at Atlanta, the Wizards look to avoid an 0-2 start, as they head to Memphis to take on an injury-ravaged Grizzlies squad.
Wizards Preview (0-1)
Washington looked good through three quarters in their opener, but the Hawks defense stepped up down the stretch, and limited the Wizards to 19 points in the 4th.
The Wizards have one of the best backcourts in the league, and they’ll look to rebound tonight. Bradley Beal battled foul trouble against the Hawks, and John Wall struggled from the floor (finishing with 12 points on 3-15 shooting).
Defensively, however, the Wizards looked much improved. Although they allowed 114 points, they forced 19 turnovers, and against a thin Memphis backcourt, they should be able to get out in the open floor.
Grizzlies Preview (1-1)
Marc Gasol has picked up where he left off prior to the foot injury which prematurely ended his 2015 campaign. He’s averaging 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks, and doesn’t seem to be experiencing any lingering effects – good news for Grizzlies fans. The bad news, every one else is injured.
The Grizzlies injury report is 8 deep, and while Memphis likes to slow down the tempo, this could prove problematic against the high-paced, athletic Wizards. Especially on the 2nd night of a back-to-back, having lost at New York last night.
I like the Wizards in this one. The Grizzlies are too banged up, and don’t match up well with Washington. The Wizards should be able to contain Conley/Gasol, dominate the boards, and get some easy fast break points… They’ll win by at least 8.
Wizards -3 (-120)
